Bevelling Heavy Steel Plate – WEAR 500 at 100mm

The Brief

Not every job starts with a DXF file and a design brief. Some jobs start with a plate, a specification, and a requirement to get the prep right before anything else can happen.

This was one of those jobs. 100mm WEAR 500 steel, profile cut and bevelled at 20° using our oxy-fuel profile cutter — locally known as the Quickie.

The Material
WEAR 500 is not standard plate. It is high hardness wear resistant steel built for environments where abrasion, impact, and heavy loading are a daily reality. At 100mm thickness it is at the serious end of what most processing facilities will touch.

  • Material: WEAR 500 high hardness wear plate
  • Thickness: 100mm
  • Cut: Profile cutting
  • Bevel: V bevel at 20° via oxy-fuel profile cutter (the Quickie)

The Process

The plate was profile cut to size first. Then the Quickie was brought in to run the bevel — two processes, one job, one outcome. A clean 20° bevel face ready for welding without secondary grinding or rework.

What This Demonstrates

Di Candilo Steel City regularly processes heavy wear plate for fabricators and end users across Western Australia’s mining, construction, and bulk handling sectors. In-house capability across multiple processes means faster turnaround and fewer handling steps for our customers.
